UK Sailmakers Door County
Founded as “Dorsal” in 2000 by avid sailor and sail maker, Charlie Klein, UK Sailmakers Door County (UKDC) is the only full service loft and marine canvas shop north of Milwaukee. UKDC is located in the former loft of yacht maker, Palmer Johnson on the Sturgeon Bay channel. UKDC offers services from Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Marquette, Michigan.
Sail Maker and Loft Service Manager, Adam Jacobs, began sailing at an early age and developed a passion for everything sailing. He has been making and repairing sails since 2012 under the guidance and tutelage of Charlie. In 2022 Charlie retired and UKDC is now under the leadership of John McMahon. His commitment to the sail making and sailing includes apprenticeships, race sponsorships and crewing. He sails a 1966 S/S Rainbow 24.

Adam Jacobs
Adam grew up sailing in Door County with his dad and it grew into his passion when he joined Dorsal Sails in 2022. Adam crews for Thursday night races and spends most of his free time on water either on his Catalina 30 or kit surfing. Adam is the Sailmaker and Loft Service Manager
John McMahon
John moved from Chicago to Door County in 1993 and immediately fell in love with the water surrounding the peninsula. He spent most of his career in high tech and along with his family built Door County Brewing Co. and Hacienda Beer Co. in 2012. After selling the brewery, he found the opportunity to work closer with the boating community and took over for Charlie Klein after his retirement, serving as President. Dorsal was rebranded to Scandia Canvas Works and Sail Loft. John sails on his 1966 S/S Rainbow 24.
