Congratulations to Farr 30, CONSENSUS, for their great performance at the 2024 ORC Double Handed Worlds held in Norway from June 11-13, 2024! With a brand new sail inventory from UK Sailmakers Sweden, including carbon X-Drive upwind sails and Matrix spinnakers, Lars Bergkvist and Anders Dahlsjö had a great race.
Starting strong, they initially led the pack of 28 in the ORC C Division but faced challenging light-air conditions. Despite the ups and downs, they showed resilience and tactical brilliance, ultimately finishing as Silver Medalists! On corrected time, the CONSENSUS team were only 72 seconds away from first place after 50 hours of intense racing.
Commenting on the race to Blur, Lars said, “Anders and I sailed well together, encouraged each other, changed sails (probably 50 sail changes), re-trimmed and were active. We had a bit of trouble with the two total stops, but that’s sometimes the case with sailing – it’s the details that count!”. He also credited the new suit of sails from UK Sailmakers Sweden for their role in this season’s doublehanded success. He said, “The new configuration with a modified boat and slightly smaller sails, including fractionally hoisted spinnakers is just right for sailing double handed.”

The previous weekend, Lars and Anders claimed overall ORC victory at the Around Oslofjorden Race. This win was not only a testament to their skill but also served as the perfect training event and a strong lead-up to the 2024 ORC Double Handed World Championship.
Their achievements highlight the exceptional performance of the new sails from UK Sailmakers Sweden, proving once again the impact of high-quality sail design and craftsmanship in competitive sailing.
